This quote comes from the poem, Our Ground Time Here Will Be Brief, by one of my favorite poets, Maxine Kumin.
And it is the best answer I've been able to come up with to the question, "Why write?"
Because our ground time here will indeed be so very brief.
Stand tall.
Feel the dirt under your boots.
And, write about it.
